Ahead of the Curve: Ula'tek — AOTC & Cutting Edge (Season 2)

Ahead of the Curve is the proof you killed the final boss on Heroic while the season was live. In Season 2 that boss is Ula'tek, the end of The Venomous Abyss. Its Mythic counterpart is Cutting Edge.

What each one requires

Two things to take from the wording:

• Mythic counts for AOTC. Ahead of the Curve accepts "Heroic difficulty or higher", so a Cutting Edge kill gives you both.
• There's a deadline. Both say "during Midnight Season 2". Once the season ends, the kill no longer awards them.

What the kill pays

Ula'tekis one of the last two bosses, which drop the raid's top item level on each difficulty:

• Heroic: item level 315, plus Hero Mistcrest
• Mythic: item level 344, plus Myth Mistcrest

Ula'tek's loot also includes the Slumbering Coil Curio, which every class can roll on and exchange for the tier piece of their choice — the source doesn't say on which difficulties it drops (see our tier token guide). The Mythic kill adds two more:

• Primeval Skyfriend — the raid's Mythic mount, sourced from Ula'tek (Mythic). No source we read states a drop chance or whether it is guaranteed.
• Mythic: Ula'tek is one of the three routes to the Insidious Venomstone.

Getting AOTC: guild, pug or booking

• A Heroic guild — the cheapest route if you have one, and the slowest if they're still progressing.
• Pugs — workable on a farmed Heroic, but pug leaders set their own entry bars, and a final-boss kill is where those bars are highest.
• A raid booking — a scheduled Heroic Ula'tek kill with our raid roster. Self-play by default: you're in the raid on your own character for the kill.
