Xal'atath's Guile
+12 and above — punishes sloppy execution
What it is
Xal'atath's Guile is the high-tier affix in Midnight Season 1. It activates at keystone level +12 and stays on for every key above that threshold — there's no Guile-free push week. Functionally, Guile amplifies the cost of execution mistakes: missed kicks, late soaks, and sloppy positioning all cost more time and damage than they would without the affix.
How the affix works
Guile applies a stacking debuff to enemies that increases their casting speed and reduces ability cast times after a successful interrupt — meaning the next cast comes faster, and the kick rotation must be accordingly tighter. It also amplifies certain positional-mechanic damage by ~15%, making mistake-tolerance smaller above +12.
How our squad plays around it
On +12+ keys our squads run pre-assigned interrupt rotations rather than reactive kicks. Two designated kickers minimum on caster-heavy dungeons. We also pre-position for predictable mechanic damage rather than relying on movement reaction times. At +18+ on Tyrannical weeks (Fortified is rougher overall but Tyrannical with Guile is the title-tier execution test), the affix is the difference between timed and depleted.
When this affix is active
Guile activates at +12 and remains active for every key above. KSM (2,000 IO) territory; required familiarity for KSH and KSL pushes.
